The Harpy Ambush are a random group of harpy thieves that seek to steal coin from those travelling through all zones of the [[Foothills]]. Initially, the ambush consists of only Harpy Thieves, but subsequent encounters will include the Harpy Enforcer and {{SuperText|Harpy Wingleader|(at level 3)}}. While [[Zhara]]/the Harpy Wingleader is part of the ambush, she has content outside the encounter, as such she has her own page.

The first encounter with the Harpy Ambush will occur when exploring the [[Foothills]] for the first time, in which the Champion will hear faint singing. Investigating the noise reveals a mountainous/jacquasian avian woman, who notices them and notes that they are free from her song, however, she waves it off, stating that her daughters need more vigorous practice anyway. A group of bird-girls appear from behind, and demand that the Champion hand over their coin. Before leaving, the [[Harpy Matron]] tells her daughters to have fun. With the matron gone, the following choices will become available:

The amount of thieves present is dependent on the party size of the Champion; a default two, with additional harpies based on the number of companions present.

===Subsequent Encounters===

Subsequent encounters with the harpy ambush may include the Harpy Enforcer, and {{SuperText|[[Harpy Wingleader]]|(at level 3)}}, in which the Champion's trek will be interrupted by a shrill screech from above. A harpy greets them, and demands their coin, shortly joined by a few more harpies. They are given the same options as the first encounter.

Similar to the party conditions of the first encounter, the number of thieves is dependent on the Champion's party size. The Harpy Enforcer has a 50% chance to appear, else is replaced by a Harpy Thief. If the Champion is at least level 3, the Harpy Wingleader will take a new leading slot, bringing the maximum total ambush to 5 harpies.
