Upon encountering them, the leading valkyrie will invite the Champion to join them on the hunt. With that, the Champion has the option to:

If the hunt is successful, the leading valkyrie will invite the Champion for some post-hunt sex. If they were defeated, all members safely escape and the leading valkyrie comments that sometimes hunts are like that, and hopes that it won't dissuade the Champion from joining them next time.
